An Invitational Style Of Intervention
I firmly believe that addiction is a family disease, impacting not only the individual struggling with addiction but also their loved ones. Recognizing this, my intervention process begins by acknowledging the importance of the family unit and involving them from the start.
When facilitating an intervention, I adopt an invitational style that prioritizes open communication and collaboration. There are no surprises involved. It is always the family or concerned friends of the Identified Addict (IA) who reach out to me seeking intervention support. I work closely with family, friends, co-workers, coaches, and other loved ones to orchestrate an intervention that is both compassionate and effective.
The intervention process is a collective effort, and I encourage the participation of all individuals who have a significant relationship with the IA. By involving everyone who cares about the IA’s well-being, we create a supportive network that fosters understanding, empathy, and accountability.
A Written Plan To Follow
Together, we will rehearse and strategically plan the intervention process. This preparation allows us to anticipate potential challenges, address any concerns, and ensure that the intervention is conducted in a respectful and organized manner. By rehearsing the intervention, we provide a safe space for loved ones to express their thoughts, feelings, and observations while emphasizing the importance of seeking help and offering support.
Throughout the intervention, I strive to create an environment that promotes empathy, understanding, and healing. I work closely with the family and loved ones to facilitate effective communication, promote healthy boundaries, and encourage the IA to consider seeking professional help and treatment.
By starting the intervention process with a focus on the family and loved ones, we acknowledge the vital role they play in the IA’s recovery journey. Together, we can provide a united front of support and understanding, guiding the IA towards the path of healing and long-term recovery.
If you are considering an intervention for your loved one, I am here to support you every step of the way. Together, we can create a plan that offers compassion, guidance, and hope for a brighter future.
